My name is Ferro Montanino, Winnipeg-based classical pianist, guitarist, vocalist, producer. You can find me every Thursday night at the famous Fort Garry Hotel Lounge playing classical-piano versions of Lady Gaga / Ke$ha / Skrillex / Nirvana / 90s RnB and pop.
When I'm not fooling snooty old people into tipping me money for playing "such pretty songs" (which probably happened to be by Slipknot), I'm producing slightly heavy pop songs in my personal studio.
My philosophy is simple - catchy and musical is good. Bach inspires my chord progressions, Backstreet Boys my melodies (yup, I said it), Kurt Cobain the visceral vocals, and modern pop provides the production aesthetic tying it all together. NIN-style distortion and Skrillex-mangling are my good friends.
I present to you a demo of "When I Do Like You", for which I am responsible every moment of sound that you hear. I am excited at the prospect of recording my music at a proper studio through this contest.
